Reuse of water bottles, plastic bad?
I reuse water bottles made from plastic water sports. I've heard that for long periods of time, the plastic will seep into the water and can give me cancer. Is this true? What can to make sure I'm safe? Thank you.
The type used in bottled water is not intended to be reused. It can be used for a day or 2 and be fine, but the main risk is that can not be sterilized properly. It does not withstand washing in the dishwasher to be (almost) sterile. The bottled water business, such as those made by Sigg and Camelback are designed to be reused and can withstand the dishwasher (top shelf) or handwashing. This is the best solution.
